The Northern Resident Killer Whales congregate in Johnstone Strait each year to feed on the Salmon that are returning to our spawning grounds. They spend the summer cruising these waters for salmon and in doing so spend a great deal of their time right by our Orca base camp. Orca Base Camp
The Orca Base Camp is a completely outfitted and set up camp for you when you arrive. We have the only base camp with a heated mess tent for those cool or rainy times which is the best insurance you can get. No other camp in Johnstone Strait is using this system.
Hydrophone Equipped
Our camp also has a built-in hydrophone to listen to the whales as they pass by our camp in the evening and another kayak mounted hydrophone, complete with amplifier for when we are on the water. We have had the Killer Whales playing in our bay, in front of our camp many evenings.
