Base Camps are Semi-permanent Encampments
Sea Kayak base camping in Johnstone Strait is one way to see Killer Whales in the wild. Some camps are set up semi-permanent while others are set up only for your trip, both offer a great opportunity for those who would like to get into the wilderness but are not quite ready to take the plunge into the full Sea Kayaking Expedition style of trip.
To base camp is to set up at one location, make day trips and return to the same spot each night. Some camps set up showers and kitchens while others are more simplistic in nature offering full integration with the environment.

Expedition: Setting up is part of the adventure, for many people picking your tent site and making your temporary home is an integral part of the adventure.
Scenery From Camp
Base: You get very used to the camp area and views.
Expedition: Experience new camp sites, fresh views and discover new places as you change campsites.
Experience
Base: Limited to exploring with the base camp area. Can see the same area repeatedly.
Expedition: Fresh places to see and new things to experience. If wildlife is not at that spot the next camp can offer new chances for successful sightings.
