Sea Kayaking Day Trips
Sea Kayaking Day Trips
Just a single day sea kayaking off Quadra Island could turn you into a dire-hard sea kayaking enthusiast. Paddling waters that are hailed by diving enthusiasts as some of the clearest cold water diving in the world, Quadra is surrounded by mountains and scenic hills, coves, islands and islets.
There are several great spots to go sea kayaking or canoeing for the day from Quadra Island although most day trips go to the Breton Islands there are many more less used options.
Granite Bay
Granite Bay is located on the north west side of Quadra and although a little difficult to get to is a very rewarding day trip area. You’ll have to pay a small fee for parking and launching but the adventure is worth far more. Explore Small Inlet Provincial Park from here among many other sites.
Surge Narrows
Surge Narrows is accessed from the North East side of the island, and again is somewhat difficult to get to. Its about an hour leisurely drive up to the end of the road where you can launch.
From here you can go for a day trip over to Read Island and explore a remote community complete with a small secluded school that schools only a handful of children from the island and surrounding homesteads.
